Stochastic Image Warping for Improved Watermark Desynchronization

چکیده
The use of digital watermarking in real applications is impeded by the weakness of current available algorithms against signal processing manipulations leading to the de-synchronization of the watermark embedder and detector. For this reason, the problem of watermarking under geometric attacks has received considerable attention throughout recent years. Despite their importance, only few classes of geometric attacks are considered in the literature, most of which consist of global geometric attacks. The random bending attack contained in the Stirmark benchmark software is the most popular example of a local geometric transformation. In this paper, we introduce two new classes of local de-synchronization attacks (DAs). The effectiveness of the new classes of DAs is evaluated from different perspectives including: perceptual intrusiveness and de-synchronization efficacy. This can be seen as an initial effort towards the characterization of the whole class of perceptually admissible DAs, a necessary step for the theoretical analysis of the ultimate performance reachable in the presence of watermark de-synchronization and for the development of a new class of watermarking algorithms that can efficiently cope with them.

Detection-Theoretic Analysis of Desynchronization Attacks in Watermarking
This paper studies the effects of desynchronization attacks such as delay and warping on the performance of watermark detection systems. First, we quantify the connection between attack channel estimation accuracy and detection performance. Second, we show how to design watermarks that minimize probability of error of the detector. Evaluation of the optimal likelihood ratio test is often comput...
متن کاملA Desynchronization Resilient Watermarking Scheme
This paper presents a content-based desynchronization resistant digital image watermarking scheme. The image content is represented by strong important feature points obtained by our robust and improved Harris corner detector. These feature points are more resistant to geometric attacks and are therefore used by the Delaunay triangle matching and image restoration method to reduce synchronizati...
متن کاملThe Application of Saturating Detectors to a Dct-domain Watermarking Scheme
The present paper proposes a discrete cosine transform (DCT) domain watermarking scheme by exploiting nonlinear dynamical saturating detectors in the design of a watermark detection process. A binary copyright character, i.e. watermark to be hidden into an image, is firstly reordered into a binary zig-zag sequence, and then mapped onto the pulse amplitude modulated signal. A certain desynchroni...
متن کاملDetection-theoretic analysis of warping attacks in spread-spectrum watermarking
This paper studies the effects of desynchronization attacks such as delay and warping on the performance of blind spread-spectrum watermark detection systems. The host signal is modeled as a colored Gaussian signal. Evaluation of the optimal likelihood ratio test is often computationally expensive, so as a practical alternative, we propose a family of quadratic detectors and construct the detec...
